Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Worker to join our team. In this role, you will provide high-quality care and assistance to individuals with disabilities, empowering them to live independently and participate in the community. You will support clients in their day-to-day activities, accompany them on outings, and help foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Personal Care & Daily Living Support: Assist clients with personal care needs, including hygiene, dressing, and mobility, ensuring dignity and respect at all times.
- Community Outings & Social Engagement: Accompany clients on community outings such as recreational activities, appointments, and social events, fostering their independence and promoting inclusion.
- Transportation: Safely transport clients to and from outings, appointments, or activities using company vehicles or public transport.
- Meal Preparation & Assistance: Assist in preparing meals according to individual dietary needs and, when required, help with feeding or monitoring.
- Medication Assistance: Assist clients with medication in line with care plans and regulatory guidelines.
- Emotional & Social Support: Engage with clients, providing companionship, emotional support, and encouragement to participate in activities that enhance their quality of life.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client progress, daily activities, and any concerns or incidents, and communicate these to supervisors or healthcare professionals when necessary.
- Adherence to Care Plans: Follow individualized care plans and assist in developing personalized activities to promote clients’ wellbeing and independence.
- Safety & Wellbeing: Ensure the safety and wellbeing of clients during all activities and outings, following health and safety guidelines.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience in disability support, aged care, or a related field is highly regarded.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a compassionate and patient nature.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable and able to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
- Valid driver’s license (for transport responsibilities).
- Certification in First Aid, CPR, or willingness to obtain.
- Relevant qualifications in disability support, community services, or similar (e.g., Certificate III in Individual Support) is desirable.
